Colorado Springs, CO : Man dies after his vehicle crashes into a townhouse on the city's north side on Tuesday afternoon, April 12, 2016

A 63-year-old man died after he rammed his car into a townhouse on the city's north side on Tuesday afternoon, Colorado Springs police said.

The driver lost control of his vehicle, went over a median and crashed into a building at 6845 Goldcrest Court, near East Rockrimmon Boulevard and East Woodmen Road, police and the Fire Department reported.

The wreck was reported about 1 p.m.

No one else was in the car, the Fire Department said.

Residents were inside the building at the time of the crash but "they were able to get out OK," said Sgt. Jason Reeser of the police's Falcon substation that monitors northern Colorado Springs. The townhouse had significant damage, he added.

The man's identity has not been released, pending notification next of kin.
