Marion County , FL : Eighteen-year-old hospitalized with injures after hit by car along SW 38th Avenue on Saturday , january 17th 2015

A bicyclist is hospitalized with critical injuries after he was hit in Marion County.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers said it happened around 11:20 p.m. Saturday along Southwest 38th Avenue near Southwest 28th Place.

Eighteen-year-old Ramiro Baten-Ajtun was southbound on SW 38th Avenue when a Chevy Sonic tried to pass.

The car’s right front hit the bicycle.

Baten-Ajtun was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center and remains in critical condition.

Troopers said the roadway was unlit and Baten-Ajtun was wearing dark clothing without a helmet or lights on his bicycle.

Charges are pending in this case.
