A four-year-old was injured Saturday and several properties were damaged after a woman crashed a car into three homes.
Around 9:30 p.m., officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to a call that a car had crashed into a home along the 1800 block of Berriedale Drive.
According to officials, 28-year-old Shelley Renay Smith drove a Ford Fusion into three homes in the Shadowlawn subdivision after fleeing a two-car collision that occurred minutes before.
Police say Smith hit a Chevrolet Tahoe near the intersection of Cumberland Road and Hope Mills Road. When Smith fled the crash, the driver of the Tahoe followed her and obtained her license plate number.
Smith was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with mild injuries. Her four-year-old daughter, who was in the car and severely injured in the crash, is in critical condition.
Two of the three homes were occupied during the incident, but no residents were injured. Officials say Smith's car became disabled after she crashed into the third home.
