FRANKLIN COUNTY, MO : 3 dead, including 5-year-old, in 5-car crash on I-44 in Franklin, Co. on Saturday, 10th August 2024

Three people died in a five-vehicle crash on I-44 Saturday that involved three semi-trucks.

According to a report by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, at around 9:30 p.m., two semi-trucks, a 2021 Freightliner Cascadia and a 2018 Freightliner Cascadia, and a 2008 Toyota Avalon were stopped in traffic on westbound I-44 at the 228.4 mile marker due to a previous incident on the road.

A 2022 Freightliner Cascadia and a 2017 Nissan Sentra were approaching the stopped traffic on the roadway. The 2022 Cascadia then hit the 2008 Toyota Avalon, resulting in the 2017 Nissan hitting the 2022 Cascadia, the 2022 Cascadia hitting the 2018 Cascadia, and the 2018 Cascadia hitting the 2021 Cascadia.

The driver of the 2008 Toyota Avalon, Bailey Snider, 25, of Rolla, Missouri, was pronounced dead at the scene.
