Macoupin County, IL : Jerseyville woman fatally injured in crash on Route 16, east of Piasa Road on Tuesday night, November 22, 2016

A woman was killed Tuesday night when her car ran off Illinois Route 16 and struck a guardrail, police say.

The Illinois State Police identified the victim as Audrey Schildroth, 35, of Jerseyville.

Schildroth was alone in a car that crashed at about 10 p.m. Tuesday on Route 16, just east of Piasa Road, said Macoupin County coroner Brad Targhetta.

Schildroth was driving west on Route 16 in a 1989 Chevrolet passenger car when her car went off the left side of the road and hit the end of a guardrail, police say.

Schildroth, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pinned inside the vehicle, police say. The coroner pronounced her dead at the scene.
