Gulfport, MS : Dustin W. Stanford, 38, hit and killed by car on I-10 in Harrison County on Monday morning, March 9, 2015

Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove has identified the man hit by a car on I-10 Monday morning as Dustin W. Stanford, 38, of Gulfport.

Hargrove said Stanford was found dead at the scene from blunt force trauma.

Gulfport Police Sergeant Damon McDaniel said the incident happened around 4 a.m.

"It appears the adult male was walking somewhere in the middle of the interstate in the east bound lanes when a vehicle struck the person," said McDaniel.

Police report the accident happened between the Highway 49 exit and the Cowan Lorraine exit. The driver of the vehicle was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

McDaniel said no arrests have been made in this investigation at this time.
