Baton Rouge, LA : Baton Rouge man struck, killed after leaving vehicle to change tire Highway 42 Thursday evening September 10 2015

Rouge say a traffic accident has resulted in the death of a motorist who was trying to change a tire on his van.

The accident happened Thursday evening on Louisiana Highway 42, also known in Baton Rouge as Burbank Drive. Troopers say a man identified as 80-year-old Lawrence Shepherd Jr. had parked his Toyota Sienna on the eastbound shoulder to change a tire. At the same time a man driving eastbound lost control in a curve. That car struck Shepherd and his vehicle.

Shepherd, who was from Baton Rouge, was pronounced dead at the scene.
