A woman in Wasilla was killed in a car crash after an SUV entered oncoming traffic, hitting her vehicle head-on.
According to a report with the Alaska State Troopers, Brandy Reed, 42, of Wasilla, was a riding as a passenger in a Chevrolet Suburban near the intersection of the Palmer-Wasilla Highway and Skip Circle in Wasilla.
William Brucher, 35, of Wasilla, was driving drunk in his Ford Expedition, troopers say, when his vehicle crossed the center line and drove into the oncoming lane of traffic before striking the Suburban.
The accident happened just before 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, troopers said. Reed was entrapped in the Suburban, according to troopers. After being extracted by emergency responders, she was rushed to Mat-Su Regional, where she was declared dead.
Other passengers in Reed's vehicle were treated for minor injuries at the hospital, and released.
Brucher was arrested for driving under the influence following a trooper investigation. They say the investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
