Knoxville, TN : Passenger dead, driver extricated in Alcoa Hwy crash early saturday morning on June 21, 2014

Police say one person is dead and another is in the hospital after a single-vehicle crash on Alcoa Highway near Ginn Road.

Officers say they found two people pinned inside the truck around 3:40 a.m. Saturday.

They say the pickup had left the road and hit a telephone pole.

The driver was cut out from the vehicle by the Knoxville Fire Department and taken to UT Medical Center.

The passenger was pronounced dead.

No names have been released.
