Vermontville Township, MI : Two people dead, four injured after minivan goes off road,hits tree in Eaton County on Sunday evening, March 8, 2015

Authorities say two people are dead and four others injured after a minivan went off a road in Eaton County and hit a tree.

The Eaton County sheriff's department says 31-year-old driver Melissa Musser and 15-year-old passenger Brenden Pearce died following the crash Sunday evening in Vermontville Township, about 25 miles southwest of Lansing.

The department says a 19-year-old man had potentially life-threatening injuries. It says male passengers ages 56, 30 and 22 were treated for injuries that are not life-threatening.

The department says all six people in the vehicle were residents of Vermontville.

The crash is under investigation, but the department says it believes that alcohol and speed were factors.
