Melbourne, FL : Titusville woman dies in a crash in Port St. John on Saturday evening, July 23, 2016

A 26-year-old Titusville woman was killed in a crash in Port St. John on Saturday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Spokeswoman Kim Montes said Brittany Thornton was taken to Parrish Medical Center in Titusville where she succumbed to her injuries after the crash at U.S. 1 and Kings Highway.

According to the FHP, she was traveling northbound on U.S. 1 and failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, left the road and struck a mailbox and tree.

Crews first responded to the scene just after 6 p.m.

The crash remains under investigation.
