A two-car crash south of Preston Tuesday sent two men to the hospital, one with life-threatening injuries.

Jeremy Pederson, 46, of Preston was southbound on U.S. Highway 52 south of Preston near the intersection with Fillmore County Road 12 at a spot where the road curves when his 2002 Toyota pickup crossed the center line and stuck a 2005 Chevy sedan driven northbound by Marc DeKeyrel, 49, of Harmony. The Toyota struck the Chevy, according to a report from the Minnesota State Patrol.

Both drivers were injured in the crash, though both were wearing their seat belts, according to the state patrol report. The drivers — neither vehicle had any passengers — were both transported to Mayo Clinic Hospital-Saint Marys. Pederson sustained non-life threatening injuries, while DeKeyrel's injuries were considered life-threatening, the state patrol reported.

There was no update on Pederson's condition. According to a Mayo Clinic spokeswoman, DeKeyrel is listed in good condition.

The Fillmore County Sheriff's Office, Harmony Ambulance, and Preston Police, Fire, and Ambulance also responded to the scene.
