Plainview, TX : Vernon area crash kills 2 from Tulia on Wednesday, October 4, 2017

A one-vehicle crash shortly before noon Wednesday on US 287 east of Vernon killed two women from Tulia. Their names have not been released pending notification of relatives.
According to published reports, Texas Department of Public Safety troopers were dispatched to the wreck scene outside Oklaunion in Wilbarger County about 11:45 a.m. Wednesday.
According to the DPS, a 2008 F-150 extended cab Ford pickup was traveling south on US 287 when it crossed a cable barrier and struck a concrete overpass support column head-on.
The two Tulia women who were occupants in the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene by a Wilbarger County justice of the peace.
DPS officials indicated that they do not know why the pickup left the roadway. Road conditions were dry and both women were wearing seatbelts.
The crash is still under investigation.
