West Yellowstone, MT : Belgrade boy killed in two-vehicle crash near Three Forks on Tuesday morning, October 11, 2016
A 10-year-old boy was killed and three other people seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash east of Three Forks on Tuesday morning.
According to Montana Highway Patrol Trooper David Morris, at about 7:20 a.m., a Chevy SUV was traveling west on Interstate 90 when the driver lost control on an icy bridge near mile marker 280, about two miles east of the Three Forks exit.
The SUV rolled through the median into the eastbound lane, where it was struck by a semi-trailer.
Mason Nicholas Swanson, 10, of Belgrade, died at the scene. Two other children and one adult were seriously injured. All three were taken to Bozeman Health Deaconess Hospital, with one child flown by Reach medical helicopter.
The semi driver was uninjured. The Montana Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate.
Sgt. Glen Barcus said troopers had responded to about 30 crashes in the area that were a result of Tuesday morning’s snowstorm.
