Marysville, CA : Yuba City residents seriously injured in Hwy. 99 head-on crash on Friday, February 3rd 2017

Two Yuba City residents suffered major injuries from a head-on collision on Highway 99 early Friday.
Puneet Rai, 32, and Leanne Delafuente, 32, were extricated from their vehicles and transported to Rideout Regional Medical Center, according to the California Highway Patrol.
At about 6:55 a.m., Rai was northbound on Highway 99 south of Bogue Road in a 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor SUV, and Delafuente was southbound on Highway 99 south of Bogue Road in the fast lane in a 2006 GMC Yukon.
Rai's vehicle, for unknown reasons, crossed over the center line and into Delafuente's path, according to the CHP. The vehicles struck head-on and came to rest within the center divider and southbound lanes.
The Yuba City Fire Department extricated them, and both were transported by Bi-County Ambulance to Rideout.
Rai was not wearing a seatbelt. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to have been a factor, the CHP said.
Highway 99 south of Bogue Road remained closed for an hour for an investigation and to allow Caltrans to clean up the debris. The roadway opened in both directions at 8:13 a.m.
The collision remains under investigation and any witnesses prior to the collision are encouraged to call the Yuba-Sutter CHP at 674-5141.
