Fort Wayne, IN : Man dies in crash on W. State on Monday, 17th December 2018

Fort Wayne police are investigating an early morning crash that killed a motorist early Monday.

Officers said witnesses told them a male driver hit a tree in the 1500 block of West State Boulevard sometime before 1:19 a.m. The man was pinned inside the vehicle unconscious, according to a news release.

Police believe the man was driving east on West State when he may have lost control, striking the tree and a utility pole.

Investigators have confirmed speed was a factor in the crash.
