Roseville, MN : 79-year-old pedestrian struck and killed while crossing street on Monday morning July 14th 2014

A 79-year-old man has died after he was hit by a vehicle while crossing a street in Roseville.

Police say Charles Betts of Roseville was hit about 5 a.m. Monday. An off-duty officer on the way to work came upon the accident minutes after it happened and, along with other bystanders, provided medical aid.

Betts was taken to Regions Hospital, where he died. The driver of the striking vehicle, a 39-year-old St. Paul man, is cooperating with police. The Minnesota State Patrol is assisting with the investigation.
