LOUISVILLE, KY : Kentucky State Police employee killed in crash in Rowan County on Wednesday, December 21st 2016
A Kentucky State Police employee died in a single-vehicle crash that happened Wednesday morning.
According to a release from Kentucky State Police, 51-year-old Benita Blanton died in the crash. Officials say it happened around 6 a.m. on I-64 east, about nine miles east of Morehead in Rowan County.
Blanton worked as a commercial vehicle enforcement inspector for Kentucky State Police.
Police say Blanton was driving a 2010 Ford Crown Victoria along eastbound I-64, when she lost control of the vehicle. Authorities say the vehicle traveled off the south side of the road and came to a stop after hitting an embankment.
She was pronounced dead by the Rowan County Coroner. Investigators say Blanton was wearing a seatbelt.
Blanton was the only person in the car, according to police.
