French Camp man ejected, dies in Stockton California
A 58-year-old French Camp man died in a crash Thursday, police said.About 11:40 a.m., Stephen Mallette was on the Downing Avenue onramp to southbound Interstate 5 when he veered onto the right shoulder, lost control of a 1991 Jeep Wrangler and struck yellow water barriers, according to the Stockton California Highway Patrol.
The Jeep overturned into another lane, and Mallette was ejected into the path of a 1998 Toyota Forerunner, officers said.The Toyota driver, from Chico, couldn't avoid Mallette, and he was struck.Mallette died at San Joaquin General Hospital, police said.
