A log truck driver quickly became a hero Wednesday morning in Copiah County, when he put his own life in danger to avoid hitting a school bus loaded up children.
Samuel Johnson's 18-wheeler overturned on Highway 28, logs spilling onto the shoulder. Johnson tells us he came over the crest of a hill and saw a school bus and some kids.
He says he had to make a split-second decision.
"Left lane was closed, right land was closed. I didn't want to hit the back of the bus. I valued the kids' lives more than me, so I hit the shoulder of the road, came down beside the bus, laid the truck over," he says.
Johnson says he suffered just a couple of scratches, and he's glad everyone is OK.
