Greenville,SC : Coroner releases name of driver killed after striking SUV head-on in Greenville Co. on October, Tuesday 10th 2017

Troopers confirm a three-vehicle collision in Greenville County turned fatal for one driver Tuesday afternoon.

Per troopers the collision occurred around 1:40 p.m. on Locust Hill Road at SC 290.

They say, two drivers in SUVs were headed east on SC 290 while a driver in a Honda sedan traveled west on SC 290. They said the driver in the sedan crossed the center line and struck one of the SUVs, which then ran off the right side of the road. Troopers say the driver in that SUV did not strike anything and was not injured.

Troopers say the driver in the sedan then crossed the center line again and stuck the second SUV head-on. The driver in the SUV was injured and taken to Greenville Health System.

The driver in the sedan, a 46-year-old from Taylors, died at the scene. Troopers say the woman became entrapped and had to be mechanically extracted.

The coroner identified the deceased as Brandy N. Thomas, 46, of Circle Street. The cause of death was listed as blunt force trauma.

The coroner said Thomas was attempting to pass one of the other vehicles involved when the crash occurred.

The crash remains under investigation.
