CHICAGO, IL : At least 7 injured after chain-reaction crash on Dan Ryan Expressway on Tuesday, 26th September 2023

At least seven people were injured overnight in a chain-reaction crash on the Dan Ryan Expressway.

Illinois State Police said a fuel spill is believed to have caused the pile-up between 31st Street and Cermak Road around 1 a.m.

The Chicago Fire Department said seven people were taken to local hospitals, and ten were checked at the scene.

The multi-car crash caused significant backups for early morning commuters until the lanes were reopened.

A truck driver told CBS 2 he skidded, but could not avoid crashing.
