FOND DU LAC COUNTY, WI : Suspect in deadly hit-and-run Fond du Lac County crash on Thursday, 18th January 2024

In a crash being called one of the most complex ever investigated by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, Jatziel Encarnacion now faces formal charges after the criminal complaint against him was filed Thursday. Encarnacion also appeared in Fond du Lac County court for the second time on Thursday, with more details and defense statements being heard.

Investigators say a 19-year-old Hartford woman crashed her vehicle on Highway 45 on New Year’s Eve and ended up lying in the roadway. Deputies say the defendant was driving a separate vehicle when he hit the woman and dragged her three miles from the scene. A second victim, also ejected during the rollover crash, was struck in the head by the defendant’s car and is now in the hospital.
