APPLE VALLEY, CA : Apple Valley woman killed in crash on Wednesday, 28th November 2018

A 57-year-old Apple Valley woman died and two other women were injured early Wednesday morning when two vehicles collided at the intersection of Central and Powhatan roads, authorities said in a press release.

The woman who was killed has not been publicly identified, as authorities have yet to notify her family. She was driving a black Honda Civic westbound on Powhatan Road and failed to stop at the posted stop sign at Central Road, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials. The Civic was struck broadside by a 2006 Chevrolet Avalanche driven by Jackie Roberts-Barron, 34, of Apple Valley. The Avalanche was traveling north on Central, deputies said. According to the press release, after colliding both vehicles came to rest on the northwest corner of the intersection.

Deputies from the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station responded, as did Apple Valley Fire Protection District personnel and EMTs from American Medical Response. The driver of the Civic was pronounced dead at the scene and a passenger in the Civic, Desiree Ramirez, 43, of Apple Valley, suffered major injuries, deputies said. Ramirez was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Roberts-Barron was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital with minor to moderate injuries, deputies said.
