A child and two adults are dead after a fatal car accident on Highway 62/82 just east of Ralls.
According to Texas Department of Public Safety reports, the traffic mishap occurred around 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, when a Buick crashed into the rear of a truck-tractor and semi-trailer.
Officials say the semi was attempting to make a right turn into a business when the passenger vehicle rear-ended it.
DPS officials confirmed that one child and two adults are dead. Two children and one adult were taken to University Medical Center in Lubbock.
The driver of Buick passenger car was confirmed as Lino Sonny Perez, 31, of Lubbock. Perez, who has lived in Plainview, was transported to the University Medical Center hospital with incapacitating injuries. It was reported that he was not wearing a seatbelt.
Though her age was not reported, a child, Analize Perez of Lubbock, was a passenger in the Buick and was transported to UMC pediatrics with incapacitating injuries.
Scarlet Perez, 2, of Lubbock and formerly of Plainview, was transported to UMC with incapacitating injuries as well.
Pronounced dead at the scene was 60 year-old passenger Margarita Perez of Plainview, who was reportedly wearing a seatbelt. Passenger Britni Lynn Woodring, 25, of Lubbock was also killed. She reportedly was wearing seatbelt. Also, 3-year-old passenger King David Perez of Lubbock was killed in the crash.
The driver of the semi-tractor trailer was identified as 69-year-old Jay Frank Parks of Hereford. He was not injured and was wearing a seatbelt.
The crash is under investigation.
