Centerville, UT : 61-year-old man dies after wreck on I-15 at Parrish Lane on Sunday morning, May 1, 2016
A driver involved in a Sunday morning wreck died as a result of his injuries, and police say wind may have played a role in the incident.
Chris Hulse, 61, of Magna died after the 5:30 a.m. crash on southbound Interstate 15 at Parrish Lane in Centerville. The Ford F-350 pickup truck Hulse was driving struck a semi that was parked on the freeway’s shoulder due to high winds, Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Chamberlain Neff said.
“When we arrived, medical procedures were already going on. CPR was already happening,” Neff said.
Neff said emergency crews transported Hulse to Lakeview Hospital and then University of Utah Hospital, where he died.
Neff said police believe wind was the main factor in the crash.
“If you’ve ever traveled on roads that have 70-plus mile per hour winds, it’s hard to maintain your lane,” he said. “We think he was pushed over to the right shoulder.”
The man was not wearing a seat belt, according to a UHP news release.
