A construction worker is dead following an accident at a job site in St. Petersburg. Authorities say 53-year-old John Winchester was driving a roller on top of a sand berm on Thursday afternoon when it slipped and rolled on top of him. Sgt. Elizabeth Brady of the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office told the Tampa Bay Times Winchester was pinned under the machine. Co-workers used other pieces of equipment to free him. But Winchester was pronounced dead at the scene. The roller was being used to pack the sand on the berm. Winchester worked for Woodruff & Sons of Bradenton. The company had been hired by the Southwest Florida Water Management District to build the berm. An investigation is underway. Source : Construction worker killed in St. Petersburg
