A motorist struck and killed a bicyclist in his 60s Tuesday in El Camino Village, police said.
The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Manhattan Beach Boulevard near Cranbrook Avenue, across the street from the El Camino College campus, California Highway Patrol Lt. Doug Young said.
The accident occurred as the bicyclist rode north in a crosswalk about 7 a.m. The unidentified driver in a Hyundai sedan heading east on Manhattan Beach Boulevard apparently did not see him, Young said. The crosswalk is marked with flashing warning lights.
The motorist stopped and cooperated with law enforcement officers.
Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the crash, Young said.
The bicyclist’s name was not immediately released.
