Authorities said a man was killed Thursday afternoon in a crash in the 700 block of West Rio Road, according to the Albemarle County Police Department.
The crash took place at about 4 p.m. when a westbound Honda motorcycle driven by a Charlottesville man went off the right side of the road, hit a concrete curb and then went into a parking area, authorities said.
The rider, Tony F. Hensley, 39, died at the scene.
The cause of the fatal crash remains under investigation.
