Macon, GA : Woman dies after crashing into creek; Wrong-way driver hits three cars on Tuesday night, Nov 10, 2015

A 38-year-old woman died late Tuesday night after her vehicle left the roadway, went down an embankment and became partially submerged in a creek in Bibb County. She died near her home in Lake Wildwood.

The incident happened around 11:30 p.m. on Lamar Road, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators said Edvivian Redshirt, of Macon, was traveling south on Lamar Road when she apparently lost control of the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze.

The Chevrolet veered right, off the road and onto the grassy shoulder where it traveled several feet before striking the cement bridge railing, the sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Randy Gonzalez said. The vehicle went down into Rocky Creek where it became partially submerged, Gonzalez said.

Deputies and Macon-Bibb firefighters arrived at the scene to find some citizens in the water attempting to get out the woman, Gonzalez said. The deputies and firefighters were able to extricate the woman who was then transported to Medical Center, Navicent Health where she was later pronounced dead by doctors, he said.
