Richmond, VA : A 19-year-old Ashland man was killed in a single-car crash on May, Thursday, 18th 2017

A 19-year-old Ashland man was killed in a single-car crash Thursday morning on U.S. Route 1.

The Hanover County Sheriff's Oiffice said it responded at 7:48 a.m. to the crash in the 17000 block of Washington Highway.

A preliminary investigation found that a 2012 Nissan sedan was traveling south on Washington Highway when the vehicle ran off the right shoulder of the road and struck a tree, the Sheriff's Office said.

The driver of the vehicle, Erid Javier Rivas Hernandez, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators were examining the circumstances that led to the crash.
