A multiple vehicle crash involving a tractor trailer closed all southbound lanes of Interstate 85 in Gaston County on Wednesday afternoon.

Traffic was backed up for about two miles, and motorists were asked to avoid the area.

Emergency crews had all lanes open by 3 p.m.

Officials have not said what may have caused the crash, or if anyone was injured.
