NORTH SEWICKLEY TWP, PA : Car crashes into North Sewickley on Sunday, July 16, 2017

A car crashed into a home on Sunday morning in North Sewickley Township, officials said.

North Sewickley police confirmed a single car accident occurred on Mercer Road Sunday morning around 7:15 a.m., but could not give any details surrounding the crash.

The owner of the home, Susan Baker, said she was downstairs in the living room area and had just walked back upstairs where her son, two dogs and one cat were asleep.

"I heard a big boom and ran to go down the steps," Baker said. "But there weren't any steps there."

Baker yelled for help, and said a fireman and nurse "came from somewhere," assisting the driver out of the vehicle. The fire department rescued Baker, her son and the animals with a ladder that was placed at the back bedroom window.

The driver, whose name was not immediately released, was transported to a Pittsburgh hospital, police said. His condition is unknown. There were reports of the driver possibly being under the influence, however, Baker doesn't harbor any ill thoughts.

"I think he needs to get some help," Baker said. "Before anything really bad happens."

Baker said that she and her family are fine, but worry about the safety of the home.

"Maybe it's about time to move," Baker said.

The incident remains under investigation.
