El Segundo, CA : Driver crashes into traffic pole at Douglas Street and Transit Center Drive on Thursday, February 11, 2016

A driver was taken to a hospital this afternoon after she crashed into a traffic pole at Douglas Street and Transit Center Drive in El Segundo, officials said.

Firefighters responded to the scene after receiving a call just after 2:30 p.m., said El Segundo Fire Capt. John Gritzmacher.

He did not know the extent of the driver’s injuries, but said it appeared that the crash occurred at high speed. The woman, who was not identified, was transported to County Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.

Police closed Douglas Street from Park Place to Alaska Avenue and advised drivers to avoid the area while they investigate.
