Oneonta, N.Y : Teen dies in car crash on county Route 33 in Bloomville on Friday, November 4, 2016

A teen died in a one-car accident reported shortly after midnight Friday, Delaware County deputies said.

A source said that the victim was Jillian Ann Nappi of Jefferson, and that she was 17 years old.

The accident occurred on county Route 33 in Bloomville, when the driver lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons, while driving northeast, deputies said.

Nappi’s vehicle went off the roadway on the west side and continued over the earth embankment, rolling over and striking a tree, deputies said.

Although there is no indication at this time that alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash, deputies said a blood sample was secured for toxicology analysis.

In confirming the victim’s identity, Delaware County Medical Examiner James Cooros said he declared Nappi dead at the scene from crash injuries shortly after he arrived at about 1:40 a.m.

The accident remains under investigation, deputies said.
