A two-vehicle accident Saturday at the 275 Bypass and Jackson Trace Road resulted in three people, including a child under the age of 2, being injured.

According to Talladega police Capt. John McCoy, a Chevrolet Yukon driven by Tyrone Hardesty, of Lincoln, was crossing the bypass when it struck a Mitsubishi Lancer driven by Kayla Simmons, 19, of New Hope.

McCoy said Hardesty seemed to have avoided injury, but Simmons was transported to the emergency room of Brookwood Baptist Health Center/Citizens Baptist Medical Center in Talladega.

Also transported to Citizens via North Star ambulance were an unknown 22-year-old male, also from New Hope, and a boy under the age of 2, both of whom were passengers in Simmons’ vehicle.
