Allendale,MI : Both drivers hurt in 2-car crash in Allendale on May,Thursday 31st 2018
The drivers of both vehicles involved in a crash on Lake Michigan Drive (M-45) in Allendale late Thursday afternoon were sent to the hospital, police said.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the two-car roll-over crash at 5 p.m.
The investigation shows that Eric Sietsema of Jenison was driving east on M-45 and the other car, driven by Robert Duffy of Allendale, was northbound on 52nd Avenue. Duffy, 20, failed to stop at the stop sign and drove into the path of Sietsema’s car, said Sgt. Christie Wendt of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
The collision forced both vehicles into the westbound lanes of Lake Michigan Drive. Sietsema’s car rolled over and landed on its top.
Both drivers were transported to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids with non-life-threatening injuries, Wendt said.
The westbound lanes of M-45 were closed for nearly an hour after the crash while the scene was cleaned up.
Zeeland Township firefighters and AMR paramedics assisted at the scene.
