Shelbyville, IN : Shelby County man died, woman injured in a multiple car crash near Morristown on Tuesday evening, July 5, 2016
A multiple car accident killed a Shelby County man and sent a woman to the hospital Tuesday evening.
John Hogue, 51, was pronounced dead at the scene after bystanders attempted to perform CPR.
Jessica Maxwell, 30, of Muncie, was listed in critical condition after being taken by medical helicopter.
The accident occurred on U.S. Highway 52 at the intersection of County Road N. 200 E near Morristown at 5:15 p.m.
The investigation is ongoing, but Indiana State Police have determined that a 2015 Freightliner utility truck was eastbound on the highway approaching the 200 E. intersection when Hogue, who had stopped on U.S. 52 preparing to turn north onto County Road 200 driving a Chevrolet Traverse, collided with the truck.
The accident caused the Chevy to spin into the westbound lanes, striking a westbound medical transport van.
Hogue was not wearing a seatbelt, according to investigators, and was thrown into the back cargo area of his SUV.
