Zeeland,MI : Zeeland man killed in crash on I-196 on January, Wednesday 3rd 2018

A 27-year-old Zeeland man died in a multiple-car crash late Wednesday morning on eastbound I-196 near M-6, east of Hudsonville.

Kyle Grant was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area at about 11:52 a.m. on reports of multiple crashes and slide-offs due to snowy conditions. When they arrived, officers found eastbound traffic at a standstill behind a crash that involved a pickup truck, a semi-truck and another vehicle.

A 2016 Freightliner semi tractor and trailer driven by 63-year-old Vasiliy Konevitchenko, of London, Ontario, was eastbound on I-196, when the driver noted slowing traffic ahead due to crashes and slide-offs. He brought his semi almost to a stop, according to Sgt. Steve Austin of the Sheriff’s Office.
