Two Box Elder County men were critically injured in a crash at a U.S. Highway 89 intersection in Pleasant View Sunday morning.
At 10:45 a.m., a westbound black SUV and a southbound white passenger car collided at 2700 North and U.S. Highway 89 in Pleasant View, according to Pleasant View Police Chief Ryon Hadley. The vehicles hit at a 90 degree angle, “front end to front end,” he said.
The white passenger car started on fire after the crash, but the first Pleasant View officer on scene was able to put it out with a fire extinguisher, Hadley said.
The two men in the car had to be extricated. The 45-year-old male driver was transported to the hospital via AirMed while the 35-year-old male passenger was transported by ambulance.
Both men were taken to McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden where they are in critical condition, Hadley said.
