COLUMBUS, WI : Four teens dead in crash east of Columbus on Monday, 27h May 2024

Four teenagers died after a crash early Monday morning east of Columbus, Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt said.

The crash was reported at around 4 a.m. along State Highway 16/60 near the intersection with County Road TT in the township of Elba. Schmidt said an initial investigation found that a northbound Ford F150 failed to stop at a stop sign and was hit by an eastbound semi-tractor that wasn't hauling a trailer.

Three of the five people in the Ford F150 were pronounced dead at the scene: A 19-year-old Sun Prairie man who was the driver, a 17-year-old male passenger from Sun Prairie and a 16-year-old male passenger from Madison.

Schmidt said an 18-year-old female passenger was taken to UW Hospital and later died. Another 18-year-old female passenger from Madison was taken to UW Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
