Davis, CA : Knights Landing man dies in Old River Road cras on Saturday, 1st October 2016

A head-on collision on Old River Road east of Woodland killed one man Saturday and landed another in the hospital with major injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Juan Bravo, 21, of Knights Landing, died at the scene of the collision, which occurred shortly before 12:30 p.m. near County Road 124.

The CHP reported that the other driver, 21-year-old Tyler McLean of Woodland, was traveling southbound on Old River Road and for unknown reasons drifted into the northbound lane. A northbound vehicle took evasive action to avoid a crash, but the Accord struck a Honda Civic that was behind that car.

A passerby pulled both McLean and Bravo from their vehicles after McLean’s car caught fire following the collision, officers said. McLean was transported by helicopter to the UC Davis Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
