Farnsworth, IL : Boy killed, eight others injured in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 88 near North Aurora Monday night, July 25, 2016

District 15 Illinois State Police Tuesday continued their investigation into a two-vehicle crash Monday night on Interstate 88 near North Aurora that claimed the life of a 6-year-old boy from Iowa and injured four other children and four adults.

Master Sgt. Greg Minx said "apparently, a lane change" figured in the crash between two sport utility vehicles, although Minx said police do not yet know whether one SUV made any contact with the other.

Another police official on Monday night said "witnesses said one vehicle made kind of an erratic lane change" just before the crash.

Jouseppe Castillo, 6, of the 2400 block of East Washington Avenue in Des Moines, died after the silver, 2007 Dodge Durango in which he and seven other people were riding left the westbound lanes of I-88 and went into a ditch near Route 31, authorities said. He was pronounced dead at 9:44 p.m. Monday at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, to which he had been flown by helicopter following the crash.
