Wayne County, MS : Jones County woman injured after a car accident on Hwy 84 East near the Magnolia Road on Wednesday afternoon, December 16, 2015

A Jones County woman was sent to a local hospital after a car accident on Hwy 84 East Wednesday afternoon.

Around 2:30 p.m., the Chevrolet Impala she was driving reportedly hydroplaned during a rainfall and left the roadway, striking a concrete drainage ditch, concrete culvert and MDOT sign, according to a press release from Powers Volunteer Fire and Rescue.

According to officials, the crashed happened on Hwy 84 East in the eastbound lanes near Magnolia Road intersection.

Powers Volunteer Fire & Rescue responded to the crash scene with Powers Heavy Rescue and Powers Brush 1 along with EMServ Ambulance Service, Jones County Fire Service Chaplain Drew Blanton and the Mississippi Highway Patrol, according to the press release.

The victim was transported to South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel for treatment of undisclosed injuries.
