Monroe, LA : Kilbourne man dies in wreck on LA-585 in West Carroll Parish on Sunday morning, July 17, 2016

A Kilbourne man died Sunday morning after losing control of his vehicle in West Carroll Parish.

Shortly before 6 a.m., troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a single-vehicle wreck on LA-585 four miles north of the community of Goodwill.

Kyle Weeks, 23, was pronounced dead at the scene by the West Carroll Parish Coroner's Office.

The initial investigation revealed Weeks was driving a 2015 Ford F-150 south on LA-585. For unknown reasons, the vehicle traveled off the roadway into a ditch.

After entering the ditch, the vehicle began to rollover and struck a tree. Weeks, who was unrestrained, was partially ejected.

Routine toxicology sample was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana law requires vehicle occupants to be restrained in all seating positions, day and night. Wearing a seat belt on every trip, whether it’s short or long, is the most effective thing motorists can do to protect themselves in the event of a crash. Motorists are encouraged to always make the smart choice and to wear their seat belt.
