Fairbanks, AK : Pedestrian died after car strikes in north of Fairbanks on Tuesday night, December 22, 2015

An 84-year-old Fairbanks woman died early Tuesday night when she was struck by a car as she walked along the Steese Highway.

Alaska State Troopers say Leila Peterman was walking north of Fox when she was struck by a car driven by 25-year-old Tyrel Christensen of Fairbanks.

Troopers took a call on the accident just before 5:30 p.m.

Fox is a former mining camp 11 miles north of Fairbanks.
