Ithaca, NY : Man crashed with 2 young kids in car on Sunday August 27, 2016

An Ithaca man was charged with drunk driving after police say he crashed his car with two children as passengers.

River A. Hathaway, 41, of Ithaca, was charged with felony aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child less than 16 years old, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and several other traffic tickets, according to New York State Police.

At about 11:15 a.m. Sunday, the Tompkins County 911 dispatch center received a report of a crash involving one car on Carman Road in Enfield. When police arrived on scene they determined Hathaway had been driving while intoxicated when he crashed, a news release said. There were two young children in the car at the time of the crash, ages 4 and less than 1, according to Trooper Nathan Riegal of New York State Police. An adult woman was also a passenger, he said.

No injuries were reported, but all passengers went to Cayuga Medical Center to be evaluated, Riegal said.
