A community has spoken of its shock following an accident which left a schoolboy seriously injured after he was hit by a car in Wolverhampton.
The incident happened yesterday afternoon on Warstones Road in Penn, when the boy, aged 12, was hit by a black Audi.
He was taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital with head injuries, where he remains in a stable condition today.
The road was closed shortly after the collision took place until late last night between Pinfold Lane and Warstones Drive as police carried out their investigations.
Four police cars, a van and a forensics vehicle were on site yesterday evening, with investigators combing the scene for evidence and knocking doors, speaking to witnesses.
The boy is believed to live nearby.
Rob Boyd, who lives on Warstones Road, said: “My son knows him but they go to different schools. A boy my son plays football with was with him at the time. He’s absolutely distraught.
“It really is shocking, nobody expected something like this to happen.
