Falmouth, MA : Passenger critically injured in car crash in the area of Geggatt Road on Thursday, December 22, 2016
A Thursday evening car crash in Falmouth has claimed the life of one Falmouth High School student as another FHS student battles life-threatening injuries.
According to a Falmouth Police Department statement, at approximately 6:42 p.m. on Dec. 22 members of the Falmouth Police Department, Barnstable County Sheriff's Office, and Falmouth Fire Rescue Department responded to a one car motor vehicle crash on Thomas B. Landers Road in the area of Geggatt Road. Once on scene, emergency personnel found a car in the woods with two occupants trapped inside. Both occupants were Falmouth High School students.
Falmouth police said the car's operator, 17 years old from East Falmouth, succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the crash. The passenger was extricated from the vehicle by rescue personnel and later flown to a Rhode Island trauma hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction Team and the Falmouth Police Department.
