LINCOLN COUNTY, WV : 1 seriously hurt after car crashes into home in Lincoln County on state Route 214 in Sumerco on Tuesday, 8th January 2019

A man was arrested and faces assault charges in connection with an incident that sent a car with four juveniles crashing into a house in Lincoln County, West Virginia State Police say.Joshua Chaney, 32, faces four counts of malicious assault.

The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday on state Route 214 in Sumerco.

Troopers say Chaney was driving a Dodge truck that was chasing the car with the four juveniles, one as young as 13. Investigators say that truck rear-ended the car, causing it to spin and crash into the house.

"He hit us really hard," one of the teens said. "I remember when we were turning, about to wreck, going sideways, he floored it one more time."

One of the youths was seriously hurt. She is at CAMC General awaiting brain surgery.

Sue Lovejoy, the teen's parent, said she does not understand why Chaney would do this to kids.

"We're very angry that a man would chase four teenagers and run them off a road, trying to kill four teenagers," Lovejoy said.
